Hyderabad: While Indian CEOs are leading the world’s IT giants overseas, the large IT workforce in India is still struggling with basic communication skills, claim an official of a Hyderabad-based skill development firms.
“The Indian IT workforce faces a huge challenge in terms of communication skills, which hampers the companies in several ways. This could be the reason why companies are increasing their expenditure on skill development, which is growing by 25-30 per cent year-on-year,” said Himanshu Shah, the CFO of Crosswinds Technologies, on the sidelines of a programme at ISB.
The event was organised by Crosswind, founded Kiran Sankara, which provides niche executive education to mid level and senior level IT management in partnership with US-based Scaled Agile. It has partnered with ISB for venue to conducts its leading SAFe programme.
US-based technology company Pearson English business leader India, Madan Kaja says that “There is a huge gap between the number of graduates passing out every year and their employability.
This is basically due to the lack of communication skills and is not just restricted to IT but other sectors too like auto and R&D.”
However, Progress Software vice-president and MD Ramesh Loganathan feels that soft skills are required only in the initial stages of ones career as they pick up pace while at work.
