This is just the start of an incredible journey: Jeev on Lahiri
New Delhi: Congratulating Anirban Lahiri for his record tied fifth finish at the PGA Championships in Wisconsin (USA) ace golfer Jeev Milkha Singh on Monday said the Indian pro is scaling new heights and has brought immense joy and pride to the nation.
Lahiri played a superb final round of 68, after three rounds of 70-67-70, for a total of 13-under 275. In fact, at one stage, he rose to as high as tied third during the day.

The 28-year-old, who hit the global golf headlines with stunning wins in the Malaysian Open and Hero Indian Open in a span of three weeks, will return to top-50 in the new rankings and is also a near-certainty for the International Team for the President's Cup in Incheon, Korea in October. Jeev, who is travelling to Copenhagen, Denmark, lavished praise on the young golfer.
"I would first like to congratulate him on what was a stupendous achievement. I thought he was just outstanding in how he handled the unique pressures of a major championship, and I am sure this is just the start of an incredible journey for him," Jeev was quoted as saying in a release.

"Anirban's finish betters the tied-ninth I recorded in Oakland Hills in 2008, and I am delighted that my record has been broken. This shows progress for Indian golf, and that makes me happier rather than have my name against a record.
"This performance will also be a massive boost to other Indian players and I hope it inculcates a healthy competitive feeling. What Anirban has done should be the launching pad for many such success stories from our country.
"I wish Anirban all the best in the future and hope he will soon be hoisting a major trophy on a Sunday evening," he added.
