Vishwanath got hooked to drugs at 17
Bengaluru: Vishwanath, the 22-year-old rowdy sheeter in D J Halli police station, was a resident of Kaval Byrasandra near R.T. Nagar.
He was arrested in 2013 by D J Halli police for setting vehicles on fire and charged under Section 435 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage) of the IPC and had two cases against him. After the arrest he was lodged in the Parappana Agrahara central jail since October 2013.
According to the D J Halli police, Vishwanath’s father Chainnappa died when he was very young. He dropped out of SSLC and by the age of 17, Vishwanath had become a drug addict and was indulging in anti social activities. He younger brother is also said to be a drug addict. Vishawanth was working as a cleaner, when he got arrested.
In the two cases he was facing, a city court had acquitted him in October 2014, while another one was still under trial.
“Owing to his deteriorating mental condition, Vishwanath’s family also didn’t try to secure bail,” said city Police Commissioner N.S. Megharikh.
