New Delhi: A turf war has blocked the Union home ministry’s (MHA) proposal for battling crimes against women, as its move to pump in funds for setting up investigative units in all districts across the country, has been stonewalled by the women and child development ministry (WCD).
The ministry recently stonewalled attempts of the MHA to use the pool of funds saying the matter concerns the state governments primarily and the Central pool of funds must be dedicated for innovative projects only.
The fund, set up after December 16, 2012 gangrape has a total of Rs 3,000 crore. However, the fund is lying unused.
