Bollywood actors who started their careers with music videos

You may have found yourself humming to a tune from an indie music album on several occasions but we bet you didn't known that some of your favourite Bollywood stars started off their career with music albums.
Deepika Padukone
Well, this might come as a shocker for some. Himesh Reshammiya might have received flak in the early stages of his career, but it was only because of ‘Naam Hai Tera’ that people took notice of Deepika Padukone. The video turned into the perfect launch pad for the model who went on to bag a role opposite Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Om Shaanti Om’. The rest they say is history.
John Abraham
Before he made his debut in Pooja Bhatt’s ‘Jism’, John Abraham starred in Pankaj Udhas’s number ‘Chupke Chupke’. Who would have ever imagined that? The little known model can be seen flaunting his long, floppy hair and flashing cute dimples.
Celina Jaitley
Remixes and fusion songs continue to rule the charts, but in early 2000s, songs like ‘Kaanta Laga’, ‘Pardesiya’ had everybody swaying to their beats. It was at that time, ‘Zara Nazron se Kehdo’ quickly topped music charts. The song remixed by Bombay Vikings, starred Celina Jaitley. The gorgeous actress set million hearts racing with her sultry looks and dance moves. She also starred in Jazzy B’s music video, ‘Oh Kehri’ 2001 after which she landed a role in ‘Janasheen’.
Milind Soman
Long before he become country’s Ironman, model turned actor Milind Soman was noticed for his act in title song of singer Alisha Chinai’s ‘Made in India’. Milind who flaunted his ripped torso body with total ease set several hearts racing.
Bipasha Basu
She may have climbed the success ladder with a spate of good and cringe worthy movies, but Bipasha Basu started out by starring in Sonu Nigam’s ‘Kab Ye Janegi’. Bipasha stands out in the visually unappealing video and this kick started her Bollywood career.
Riya Sen
The song ‘Yaad piya ki aane lagi’ fetched Falguni Pathak her status as Dandiya Queen. But little does anyone know that the album featured Riya Sen. The song found its way into the hearts of listeners and Riya went on to feature in Hindi and regional films.
Ayesha Takia
Along with Riya, Falguni Pathak introduced Ayesha Takia with her hit song ‘Meri chunnar udd udd jaye’. The song also featured south siren Trisha Krishnan .
Dia Mirza
How often do budding artists get a chance to feature in legendary Asha Bhosle’s music album? Dia Mirza got a chance to feature in ‘Na marte hum’ with Ashish Chaudhary. The song rose up the popularity charts even before it was featured on radio and television programmes. However, this album proved as a golden ticket for Dia who managed to bag ‘Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein’.
Shahid Kapoor
He bowled us with his impeccable performances in ‘Haider’ and ‘Kaminey’ but several years ago, Shahid Kapoor starred as scrawny, love-struck teenager in ‘Aankhon mein tera he chehra’. And since then he has come a long way!
