New Delhi: In his second Independence Day address from the ramparts of Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi coined another new slogan — “Start-up India and Stand up India”.
He steered clear of the controversies plaguing his government and, much to the chagrin of the protesting ex-servicemen, did not give a specific timeline for the implementation of “one rank, one pension”.
He did “swear” though that the talks “were in the final stages” on the OROP issue. There were no fresh announcements and there were no hints of any new schemes.
