Man held for raping married woman repeatedly
New Delhi: A 23-year-old man has been arrested for the alleged rape of a married woman over a period of time in west Delhi's Paschim Vihar area, police said today.
The accused allegedly filmed the incident and blackmailed her with the video preserved in his computer.
The accused, identified as Aftab, who is believed to be an active member of a political party, had also allegedly threatened the victim several times on the basis of his claimed political connections, said a senior police official.
In her complaint registered on Friday, the 22-year-old woman told the police that she befriended Aftab around two years ago. Aftab used to teach karate at a park in Paschim Vihar and several schools in nearby areas. The woman was one of his pupils.
One day, Aftab allegedly invited her to his residence, where he offered her a drink laced with sedatives and then allegedly forced himself on her. He also allegedly filmed the act and raped her several times, blackmailing her with the video recording preserved in his computer, said the officer.
Aftab allegedly continued blackmailing the woman and sexually assaulted her even after she got married around six months ago. Things turned worse when the video recording got leaked around a week ago. The woman then approached the police and reported the matter, the officer said.
"A case was registered immediately based on her complaint and the accused has been booked under Sections 376 (rape), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison or drug with intent to commit a offence), 385 (putting a person in fear of injury to commit
extortion) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and relevant sections of the IT Act," said Depender Pathak, Joint Commissioner of Police (South-West).
