Hyderabad: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped by an autorickshaw driver in Mahbubnagar district. The incident came to light on Friday when the girl’s parents attempted to marry her off to the accused. The driver, who is a neighbour of the victim, is absconding.
Police said the victim, 14, is a resident of Tankara village and is studying in Class VIII. The accused K. Venkatesh, 21, used to visit the girl’s house.
He proposed to her, the girl accepted and he had sex with her. When the girl’s family came to know of it they decided to marry her off to Venkatesh.
Police rescued the girl. “They admitted she was raped by Venkatesh and that is why they decided to marry her to him,” said SI Narayan Singh.
