Congress chief E V K S Elangovan hits out at AIADMK
He said the incumbent regime wants people steeped in alcohol to further its political interests
Chennai: Launching an all out assault against the ruling AIADMK, state Congress president E.V.K.S. Elangovan on Friday likened Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa to the erstwhile Chinese royalty and said the incumbent regime wants people steeped in alcohol to further its political interests.
Addressing party men at various locations in and around the city, Elangovan, who launched and wound up the day-long hunger strike, said the ruling AIADMK is like the monarchs who ruled China before Mao led revolution.
“They want the people immersed in alcohol. Only then, they will blindly follow them. Otherwise, the people will chase them out (of power),” Elangovan said, threatening to launch an agitation demanding the ouster of the Chief Minister if she does not make an announcement on prohibition on ‘I’ day.
Participating in an agitation at Valluvar Kottam, actor and AICC spokesperson Khushbu Sundar accused the ruling AIADMK of promoting alcohol sale.
