She is the wife of King Khan Shah Rukh, but that is not what her identity rests on. Gauri Khan wears two hats proudly, that of a producer and a designer. She has always maintained a low profile and therefore there is a lot of curiosity about her in the media and among fans as well. But she is clear on staying tight-lipped about her personal life. As far as the media goes, she’ll only talk shop. “I have never hesitated to speak about my work in public, but I believe in maintaining a low personal profile,” she says.
There are many real life roles she balances, that of a wife and mother, besides her professional commitments. The key to striking a balance, she says, is “Time management and prioritisation. Know where your priorities lie, and allocate time accordingly. Make optimum use of the time you do have in hand and give that to everything you do.” She reveals that it was while she was designing the interiors of her home Mannat, that she realised that her interest in designing was more than just a hobby. “I got seriously interested in design when I was working on our own house (Mannat). I tried my hand at a few projects that came my way, and released that my inclination towards design wasn’t just a passing phase and that I was truly passionate about it. That’s how it began, and now with Satya Paul, I have ventured out in clothes and I’m looking forward to more. The theme of the collection is inspired by Mata Hari’s life’s duality.”
