Anil Kapoor ‘honoured’ to hoist the Indian flag in Melbourne
The actor is in Australia to be a part of the IFFM festival
Mumbai: Bollywood star Anil Kapoor was given the honours to hoist the Indian tricolour flag at the iconic Federation Square in Melbourne on Saturday.
The actor, who is in the country to be a part of the ongoing ‘Indian Film Festival of Melbourne’, attended the event organised by the festival to commemorate 69 years of India’s Independence. Several heads of state and an estimated number of 10,000 Indians attended the event that was followed with several performances, including one by Bharatham dancers.
Anil will present his film ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ and his classic ‘Mr. India’ at the film festival. After the celebrations, the delighted star took to his social networking handle and said, “One of the most memorable moments in my life hoisting the Indian Flag at Federation Square Melbourne on Our Independence Day. Jai Hind!”
He went on to tweet : What an honour for an Indian Citizen to hoist our National Flag on Independence Day at Federation Square in Melbourne.
Stars like Sonam Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut, Imran Khan and Bhumi Pednekar are also in the country to be a part of the festival that celebrates the magic of Indian cinema.
