Naac accreditation on new Calicut University vice chancellor’s priority list
KOZHIKODE: Calicut University vice chancellor Dr M.K. Abdul Khader is all set to bring back normalcy at the University campus after a four year tumultuous period in the campus under Dr M. Abdul Salam.
Dr Abdul Khader made it clear that Naac accreditation was his priority during his brief tenure as the VC till a regular VC took charge.
It is learnt that he has also signed the file to release Onam bonus for the staff which his predecessor had not signed.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Dr Khader said, “I am happy that Calicut University got high ranking in certain polls, however my priority will be getting the Naac accreditation. I think for a university or a college for that matter, getting Naac accreditation is more important than the ranking.”
He added that with wholehearted support from the teachers only, the accreditation process could go further. “I will immediately call a meeting of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (ICAQ) and ask them to hasten the process for Self Study Report (SSR) which is still at the infant stage. Each department has to prepare more than 20 files including details of achievements of department, details of academic activities and activities of alumni association. It is a tough task but I want it taken up along with Kannur University which is now all set to welcome the Naac team,” he added.
