Miscreants set temple idols on fire at Bahadurpura

Hyderabad: Unidentified persons entered the Mallanna temple at Bahadurpura and torched the deities inside. The incident came to light when the priest opened the temple on Thursday morning.

Police suspects that the incident happened at about 5 am. The clothes on the deities were were half burnt, said Bahadurpur inspector Harish Kaushik.

As the temple is located in a sensitive area, a police picket was set up near the temple. Most of the police were on bandobust duty at Golconda and only one home guard was available; he might have been sleeping, police said.

“We have requested the temple management many times to install CCTVs in the premises but it was not done,” said the inspector.
