DMK leader M. Karunanidhi’s name ‘removed’ from SIAA list

Name of Jayalalithaa, that is suppose to move forward in the list as per seniority, is descending
CHENNAI: The off screen melodrama ahead of the South Indian Artists’ Association (SIAA) elections continues, this time over the alleged deletion of DMK leader M. Karunanidhi’s name from the life members’ list. Further, the name of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, that is suppose to move forward in the list as per seniority, is descending resulting in a renewed war of words between the two sulking groups of SIAA led by actors Nassar–Vishal and Sarath Kumar-Radha Ravi.
Both Nasar and Vishal cried foul petitioning south Chennai district registrar P. V. Geetha, who as per the recent high court order, is now verifying members’ list that will be the electoral roll for the ensuing elections of SIAA office-bearers.
“Veteran scriptwriter Karnunanidhi is a lifetime member with 4123 as his serial number, but now the officer-bearers say he has been moved to the list of honorary members,” actor Nassar said. There are discrepancies in the list. Names of prominent personalities like Karunanidhi is missing and the name of Jayalalithaa has moved from serial number 25 to 37 and we do not understand this logic, Nassar added.
Actor Vishal alleged that some incumbent office-bearers have added the names of their drivers and children who had not acted in any movie. About 400 people have been so far removed from the list of total 3,148 members and still there are bogus members. Alleging that during January and February, as many as 231 names were added without any credentials, Vishal demanded the new list with pictures of the incumbent members.
Meanwhile SIAA member Poochi Murugan, who had approached the court protesting against the removal of his name, obtained an order favouring the inclusion of his name.
