CM didn’t suggest Mysuru for Smart City: Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha
Mysuru: Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha, who had met Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu claims that Mysuru, the Heritage City, was not included in the Smart City list because Chief Minister Siddaramaiah did not make the recommendation!
In a press statement, Mr Simha said Mr Naidu when contacted, expressed shock that Mysuru, the hometown of Mr Siddaramaiah had not been recommended by the state government. Enquiries with officers revealed that the local audit of Mysuru for 2011 was not done and the completion of JNNURM projects was less than 80 per cent which meant it would not meet the criteria for a Smart City.
Taking up the cause of Mysuru, Mr Simha said it has a tourist inflow of over 32 lakh and has been declared the cleanest among 476 cities which was reason enough for being considered for the project. According to him, Mr Naidu agreed to try and include Mysuru in this phase of the project or at least the next phase and urged him to ensure that the local administration completed pending work and met the criteria for Smart Cities.
