Hyderabad: GHMC commissioner Som-esh Kumar on Thursday said the Swachh Bharat ranking, which placed Hyderabad at 275, is incorrect. He said certain surveys had not been done properly, and the committee had not discussed related issues with the GHMC.
“In 2014, Hyderabad was ranked 70. Since then the GHMC had taken up sanitation work with modern machines. Together with the help of e-office, the GHMC would have been within the 20th rank,” Mr Kumar said.
Meanwhile, with the bio-urinals not finding many users, the GHMC plans to provide 200 pre-fabricated toilets. These will be placed every 500 metres. The tenders are being processed.
The pre-fab toilets, both for men and women, occupy about 4 sqm each, and can be set up within four hours. The toilets have a fibreglass body and the basins are made of stainless steel.
The laying of white topping roads, a pilot project taken up at Banjara Hills, Road No. 10, will also be taken up in few more areas after the CM’s approval, officers said.
