Bengaluru police to employ 1,400 policemen to guard Independence Day parade venue

City police will be deploying 1,400 policemen to guard Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground

Bengaluru: The city police will be deploying 1,400 policemen to guard Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground, where the Independence Day Ceremonial Parade will be held on Saturday. Yellow Car Pass holders should enter the venue from Gate number 1 on Cubbon Road, while white car pass holders can use Gate number 2.

Invitees with pink pass should park their vehicles at BRV Police Parade Ground and walk to Gate number 3 to enter the venue, while green car pass holders can park vehicles on Kamaraja Road and Main Guard Cross Road and walk to Gate number 4 and 5 to enter the venue.

Vehicles ferrying participants in the parade and cultural events shall enter the ground through Gate No. 1 and they will later be parked on Northern side of M.G. Road, from Anil Kumble circle to Metro Station. Likewise, all government vehicles shall enter the venue from Gate No.1 on Cubbon Road and they will be parked behind the Fort Wall on the Southern Side.

All two-wheelers should be parked on the Eastern side of Kamaraja Road and visitors should walk to Gate number 4 and 5 to enter the ground. Those who do not have car passes can park their vehicles on Kamaraja road parking area and enter the parade ground through Gate number 4 and 5.

No mobile phones

Those attending the parade have been requested not to bring mobile phones, helmets, cameras, radio, umbrella and any other equipment to the ground and those carrying such articles will not be permitted inside. All are requested to be seated before 8.30 am.

Traffic diversions in CBD tomorrow

The traffic police have made elaborate arrangements for the movement of vehicles near Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw Parade Ground on Saturday.

There will be traffic diversions from 8.30 am to 10.30 am from BRV Junction to Kamaraj Road Junction (both directions) on Cubbon Road. Vehicles coming from Medinova towards Manipal Centre should move on Infantry Road, Safina Plaza; left turn to Main Guard Road, Allies Circle, Dispensary Road, Kamaraja Road and Dickenson Road jn; right turn to K.R. Road, K.R. Road Jn and left turn to Cubbon Road onwards to Manipal Centre Junction.

Vehicle going from Manipal Junction to BRV Junction on Cubbon Road will take left turn at K.R. Road Junction towards Cauvery Art & Crafts Circle Junction; right turn to M.G. Road, Anil Kumble Circle and proceed ahead.

Vehicles coming from Anil Kumble Circle towards Cubbon Road will go straight on Central Street Junction; right turn to Infantry Road, Safina Plaza; left turn to Main Guard Road, Allies Circle, Dispensary Road, Kamaraja Road and Dickenson road junction; right turn to K.R.Road junction; left turn to Cubbon Road onwards to Manipal Centre junction.

Vehicles coming from Coffee Board and moving towards BRV Junction should proceed towards Safina Plaza on Infantry Road, take left turn at Main Guard Road, Allies Circle; right turn to Dispensary Road, Kamaraja Road and Dickenson road junction; right turn to K.R. Road junction; left turn to Cubbon Road onwards to Manipal Centre junction.

Vehicles coming from Cauvery Arts & Craft Circle on M.G. Road and going towards Cubbon Road and K.R. Road junction shall proceed straight on M.G. Road towards Anil Kumble junction and further ahead.

VVIP security

Nearly 150 police personnel will be deployed for VVIP security at 25 passageways with Door Frame Metal Detectors, 100 Hand-Held Metal Detectors and under-vehicle search mirrors at all the gates. There will be eight Explosive Vapour Detectors. Anti-sabotage check squads and bomb detection and disposal squads) will also be deployed around the parade ground, K.
