Fake ACB man cheats woman, held in Hyderabad
Hyderabad: A constable who impersonated an ACB inspector and cheated woman under the pretext of marriage was arrested by the Uppal police on Thursday. Police said V. Sri Rangaraju, 35, was a constable at the APSP First Battalion at Yousufguda. Police seized a car, two motorcycles, two laptops, a mobile phone, duplicate ID cards and uniforms and his original ID card from his possession.
Police said Rangaraju, a native of Eluru, West Godavari, had discontinued his MBA. He appeared for SI recruitment in 2009 and 2011 but could not qualify.
“From that time, when not on duty, he started wearing the uniform of an inspector. He made a fake ID card and introduced himself as an ACB inspector,” said Malkajgiri DCP Rama Rajeshwari.
In 2013, he introduced himself as an inspector to a neighbour of his sister. In 2014, he promised marriage and borrowed Rs 2 lakh from a private school teacher.
When she questioned him about the marriage, he demanded more money. When she demanded the money back, he confessed that he was already married and had children, the DCP said.
