Mumbai: A 17-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide in Satara district of western Maharashtra, after being accused of molesting a girl, police said on Friday.
"The boy went into depression and took the extreme step. He was one of the four persons against whom the relatives of the girl, a minor, had filed police cases," a senior police official said from Faltan in Satara district.
The girl's relatives had filed cases against the boy and three others. However, family members of the boy claimed that the girl's relatives assaulted him and as a result he ended his life by hanging himself recently, the official said.
The boy's family members, in turn, have registered police case in connection with the attack on the boy and his subsequent suicide. Two persons have been arrested in the case, police said.
