Top plan to solve woes yet to start
The much-hyped “Advanced Citizen Grievance Redressal System” announced by the GHMC
Hyderabad: The much-hyped “Advanced Citizen Grievance Redressal System” announced by the GHMC in mid-April is yet to be put in practice. The redressal mechanism was launched to address the civic issues on a priority basis and was aimed at closely monitoring service delivery of garbage collection, manhole coverage, streetlights falls, stray dogs, public toilets, dead animals, roads and potholes, public encroachments, illegal constructions and a host of other works done by GHMC.
On April 20, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation had launched a vehicle on pilot basis with high definition cameras, which would provide a 360-degree panorama of the road enabling the vehicle to capture the entire area in one go.
“Each vehicle will be touring at least 15 km per day, and the proposed system will deploy 12 vehicles in the GHMC limits,” it had been announced. However, not one of the promised vehicles has come into existence.
The cameras on the vehicles were meant to capture photos and videos of the various civic problems and alert the control room and respective department for immediate redressal.
GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar said, “The process is still in the design phase. Though some people came up with designs, we have rejected them and are waiting for a better design of the system to come up.” “It will take some more time,” he added.
