Chennai schools shine well in IGCSE exams

Cambridge International exam results out
Chennai: Cambridge International Examinations announced results on Tuesday for the IGCSE examinations held in June this year. Schools across the city have performed well in the Advanced level (A levels) and Advanced Subsidiary level (AS levels) with many scoring ‘A Star,’ that is 90 to 100 and ‘A plus’ that is 80 to 90 marks.
The principal of The Gateway School said she was extremely happy as all students who wrote the exam had scored excellent scores, “However, what I am more pleased about is the fact that all the students who have topped are also all rounders. They take part in all extra curricular activities too including sports”.
School topper Sanjana Dulam who has received an A Star in Biology, Chemistry and Physics said she didn’t have a regular study schedule. “Everybody told me I should get up in the morning and study but I didn’t even study everyday. I just studied whenever I felt like, but when I did I would fully concentrate on studying.”
“I really like Physics and Chemistry, but I’ve also decided to take up Media and Communication in my Class XI just to broaden my
knowledge.”
Pranav Sivaramakrishnan from APS Global school said that his parents were overjoyed by his results since they had surpassed their expectations.
Pranav credited his teachers for his achievement, “I owe my teachers a lot, I wouldn’t have been able to do so well if I didn’t have their guidance and support”. Pranav has applied to the University of Cambridge for a undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering.
The number of IGCSE schools is mushrooming in the city, with 25 schools currently following the Cambridge Board curriculum. The next set of exams for the IGCSE Board will be in November this year.
