He had been arrested last year and was out on bail

Hyderabad: A person claiming to be the president of “Anti Corruption Brigade, and International Human Rights Organisation” extorted crores of rupees from several victims in Jeedimetla and surrounding areas. He was arrested by the Cyberabad police under the Goonda Act.

The imposter, Mohammed Sadath Ahmed, 34, traveled in a convoy, and ran a magazine named Human Rights Watch to gain popularity and trust in the society.

According to the Cyberabad cops, Ahmed was involved in cases of forgery, cheating, criminal intimidation, outraging the modesty of a woman, wrongful restraint, causing hurt and criminal conspiracy.

He had been arrested last year and was out on bail. To keep him in jail, the police has now booked him under the PD Act. “He created fear and spread terror, breaking peace and public tranquility, creating panic and insecurity in the minds of public. He traveled in convoys with his henchmen to create an impression,” said police commissioner C.V. Anand.

Ahmed, a resident of Saibaba Nagar under Dundigal police station limits, ran a “parallel court” with his associates, settling land disputes, family disputes, divorce cases, and other issues in the area. His gang threatened people, extorted crores, and grabbed lands from the several victims. He even sold posts of his “organisation” to people for lakhs and prompted them to extort money from others using his modus operandi.

He also claimed to be the president of a false organisation named Anti Corruption Brigade.

“When a party approached him with disputes related to land or family, he would meet the opposite party, threaten to kill him or ruin his life with his influence, and seek money from both parties to solve the issues. In divorce cases too, he restrained and threatened the husband or wife, to agree to the spouse’s terms. He will collected his ‘fees’ and extorted money from them,” said an official.
