India may miss out the dazzling Perseid meteor shower this year

Overcast skies play spoilsport for skywatchers but you can still catch it on NASA's website

It’s that time of the year again for skywatchers to get their telescopes and cameras out. For the uninitiated, the month of August offers you a chance to watch spectacular meteor showers at night every year. The Perseid August meteor shower is known to be one of the most popular meteor showers of the year.

Beginning on the 12th and 13th of this month, the meteors are called Perseids because they fly out of the constellation Perseus, according to AccuWeather. Though clearly visible from most parts of the world, unfortunately folks in India won’t be able to catch this gorgeous meteor shower because of the monsoon clouds in the sky.

The Click on Detroit reports that the best time for watching the Perseids is between midnight and dawn since that is when the part of the sky where the meteors come from is above the horizon. But don’t lose heart. NASA will be live streaming the meteor show on its website, so be sure to tune in.
