The smoothie season
Smoothies are not just refreshing, they are healthy and the right recipe can provide you with a whole lot of nourishment. Here are a few recipes of smoothies that will provide your body with nutrition and one recipe which you can indulge in.
The antioxidant

Ingredients
- 20 gm cooked beetroot
- 130 gm deseeded cucumber
- 50 gm peeled green apple
- 2 gm peeled ginger
Method: Cut the beetroot, cucumber and apple into cubes and chop the ginger. Put everything in the blender and blitz. Strain into a juice glass. Cut a cucumber slice in a thin half-moon shape and place it slowly, as a garnish, on top of the drink.

The stress reliever
Ingredients
- 80 gm banana
- 100 gm strawberry
- 180 ml skimmed milk
- 2 gm fresh mint leaves
- 1 tbsp honey
- A strawberry slice and a mint sprig
Method: Cut the banana and strawberry into big cubes and put in a blender. Blend well. Slice a strawberry lengthwise and place on the drink along with a mint sprig.

Raspberry twist

Ingredients
- 1 cup fresh raspberries
- 1 medium sized banana
- ½ cup milk
- 3 tbsp cream
- 1 tbsp sugar (to counter the sourness of raspberries)
Method: Blend all the ingredients on low speed. Serve chilled

Avocado smoothie
Ingredients
- 2 small avocados
- 1 and ¼ cup freshly squeezed orange juice (or 100 per cent orange juice with no added sugar)
- 2-3 dried figs
- 1 tbsp chopped pistachios
- 1 tsp sugar (if required)
- 2-3 tbsp Greek yogurt
Method: Blend all the ingredients on low speed. Add extra orange juice if you like your smoothie a little more runny.

Apple twist

Ingredients
- Handful of apple chunks
- 20 ml cocoa syrup
- 60 ml apple and pineapple juice
- 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
- 80 ml milk
- Ice
Method: Blend all the ingredients and serve.
