Winter session of Andhra Pradesh Assembly in Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: With Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu deciding to stay in Vijayawada four days every week, there are chances that the Winter Sessions of the AP Assembly could be held at Visakhapatnam.
On Tuesday, Mr Pithani Satyanarayana, member of the AP Assembly ethics committee, visited GITAM and Andhra universities to check the facilities available to host the sessions. He also visited the TLN Sabha Hall at Andhra University where the Andhra Assembly sessions were held in 1954.
Mr Satyanarayana said a report would be submitted to Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao on the facilities available to conduct the sessions along with the details of accommodation at Vizag. The final decision will be taken by the Chief Minister and the Speaker.
The first Cabinet meeting of residuary Andhra Pradesh was held in Vizag last year and recently, Cabinet meetings were held at Vijayawada and Rajahmundry.
“The Speaker wished that the Winter Sessions be held at Vizag and gave us the task of identifying a suitable venue and also finding the availability of accommodation. A report will be submitted to the Speaker in a week and the final decision will be taken by him and the Chief Minister,” Mr Satyanarayana said.
Though it was planned initially that the Monsoon Sessions would be held at Vizag, the proposal was dropped due to shortage of time to make arrangements.
