No decision on Osmania General Hospital, says Telangana
Hyderabad: The Telangana state government on Tuesday informed the Hyderabad High Court that it has not taken a final decision on the demolition of the Osmania General Hospital building.
Additional advocate-general J. Ramachandra Rao made the submission before a division bench comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B. Bhosale and Justice S.V. Bhatt.
He said that the government is looking at various options to provide alternative accommodation to patients who are in the building which is in a dilapidated condition, including shifting existing departments to other hospitals.
The bench was closing a PIL filed by city advocate B.M. Swami Dass, seeking directions to the state government against demolishing the OGH building. Senior counsel Sarasani Satyam Reddy, appearing for the petitioner, placed clippings of several newspapers pertaining to the government’s decision to demolish the OGH building before the bench.
