Bengaluru: It seems government job is a career option for lakhs of youngsters in the state. The Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), which has called for applications for the posts of First Division Assistants (FDAs), Second Division Assistants (SDAs), SDAs (Backlog), Senior and Junior Assistants in KFCSC, received 18.85 lakh applications for 2,464 posts.

This means, the commission has received 771 applications for every single job! The KPSC issued a notification to fill up 2,464 vacancies in various departments on July 7 this year. August 1 was the last date to apply, while August 3 was the last date for paying the examination fee.

Sources said that after the last date, the KPSC has received 4.98 lakh applications for FDA, 7.73 lakh for SDA, 2.41 lakh for Senior Assistant in KFCSC and 3.73 lakh for Junior Assistant in KFCSC. For FDA and Senior Assistants in KFCSC, graduation is the minimum qualification while for SDA and Junior Assistant in KFCSC, +2 is the minimum qualification.

Of these applications, 2.56 lakh have come from Bengaluru district and 1.53 lakh from Mysuru. Only 8,000 applications have been received from Kodagu district.
