Chandrababu Naidu, Centre talk as unrest grows in Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: Worried by the growing discontent among the people over the denial of special status by the NDA government at the Centre, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has sent an SOS to the Centre.
After review the developments on the special status front on Tuesday, Mr Naidu spoke to several Union ministers from Vijayawada where he is currently camping.
According to sources, Mr Naidu called ministers Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh, M. Venkaiah Naidu, Ms Nirmala Sitharaman and BJP president Amit Shah.
Mr Naidu’s aides claimed that he spoken tough on the special status and asked the Central ministers to ensure that that the assurance given during the election campaign was fulfilled.

A source said, “They were as informed that people of AP were in a hopeless situation. They were told that we have to deliver certain things and were reminded of the assurances given to the people. The reaction was positive and it was assured that the ministers would meet PM and come out with some kind of action plan in two to three days. They will probably have a consultation meet with Mr Naidu in Delhi.”
Though the opposition YSR Congress, the Congress and the Left parties are trying to cash in on the situation, the TD is treading cautiously and there is no serious talk of MPs resigning.
Ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, P. Pulla Rao, government advisers Parakala Prabhakar, Kutumba Rao and finance secretary P.V. Ramesh took part in the meeting with Mr Naidu.
