Andhra Pradesh bandh for special tag partial
Vijayawada: The bandh call given by AP Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samiti, an umbrella organisation of various political parties and organisations to pressurise the Centre to accord special status to AP evoked mixed response on Tuesday.
Demanding special status to AP as promised by the ruling parties during electioneering, activists of CPI, CPM, YSRC, Congress and other parties, along with student organisations staged protests, rasta rokos, formed human chains and took out rallies in cities and towns across the state.
Most of the schools and colleges, banks, cinema halls and commercial establishments were shut down.
The CRDA office at Tullur and CRDA competent authority offices in all 29 villages of capital region also remained closed.
In the capital region, the bandh was total in Vijayawada and Guntur. AP Congress president N. Raghuveera Reddy, CPI state secretary K. Ramak-rishna and others staged protests.
