Mandal parishad territorial constituency member hacked to death

Raju was an MPTC member at Gurakonda village in Devarakadra mandal

Hyderabad: A mandal parishad territorial constituency member belonging to the Congress was chased and murdered by unidentified persons early on Tuesday when he was on his morning walk.

Police said the three killers who were wearing masks attacked Arunachalam Raju, 51, of Devarakadra in Mahbubnagar district with hunting sickles.

Raju was an MPTC member at Gurakonda village in Devarakadra mandal.

“The killers chased him some distance and murdered him. He suffered deep injuries on his head, neck and both the hands,? said Gadwal DSP Bala Koti.

“We suspect that some of his opponents are behind the murder or it is the outcome of real estate disputes,” he said.

The killers, who were wearing masks, fled towards the railway track after the murder. Police recovered one shoe which is believed to belong to one of the accused. Raju is survived by his wife, a son and two daughters.
