Former Bengaluru mayor chargesheeted by Ayukta police in assets case
BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police have filed chargesheet against former mayor N. Shanthakumari in connection with the disproportionate assets case. The police have reportedly mentioned that she had no proper documents for about 45 per cent of her assets.
Lokayukta police sources said the chargesheet, running into over 5,000 pages, was submitted to the Lokayukta Special Court on Monday. “As she does not hold any official position currently, there is no necessity to take permission from the government to file a chargesheet.
It was mentioned that during the raids conducted on her house on March 16, 2012, cash and gold jewellery were seized,” an official said. Raids were conducted at the houses of Shanthakumari and her relatives, and assets worth Rs 1.29 crore were found.
