Thiruvananthapuram: Tomin J. Thachankary, managing director of Kerala State Co-operatives Consumers’ Federation (Consumerfed), has expressed his desire to quit the post owing to the lack of financial support to run the organisation.
According to sources, Mr Thachankary has conveyed to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy that he may be relieved from the post as the organisation lacked money even for the Onam season. The Chief Minister, however, did not give any reply.
“It would be difficult to run any fairs without financial support. There is no meaning in holding on to a post if you can’t do anything productive,” said Mr Thachankary.
The development is, in fact, a fallout of the tussle between Mr Thachankary and president Joy Thomas as well as other director board members. Though Consumerfed had made efforts to raise huge loans from cooperative banks, it did not materialise allegedly owing to the feud in the federation.
Mr Thachankary had even sought a Vigilance probe into the massive corruption involving Rs 300 crore during the last four years. Many officials of the federation were also placed under suspension.
