Ready to set myself ablaze if proven guilty: Radhe Maa

Radhe Maa has been asked to be present before the police station on Friday

Mumbai: The Kandivali police on Monday finished recording the statements of the complainant’s husband in the alleged dowry case in which godwoman Radhe Maa is an accused. The rest of the accused, including Radhe Maa, have been given specific dates when they will have to remain present in the police station. The godwoman, however, maintained she would emerge unscathed even if the CBI probes the allegations against her “illegal” assets.

Radhe Maa has been asked to be present before the police station on Friday. Further, another application given to register a case of obscenity by an advocate against the godwoman is pending for a legal opinion with the legal officer of Mumbai Police.

“It’s not my fault that I am a miracle-worker. The CBI can check all my assets. If the allegations are found to be true, I am ready to set myself ablaze. I am innocent, pure and pious,” the godwoman told the media.

Radhe Maa has been made an accused in the dowry case because she allegedly “instigated” the other accused to demand dowry from the complainant Niki Gupta. She has also been accused of torturing and kicking the complainant. The complainant also named her husband Nakul Gupta and family members Lata Gupta, Daulatkumar Gupta, Sandip Gupta, Jyoti Gupta and Jagmohan Gupta for harassing her for dowry. The accused allegedly abused her and made derogatory comments.

Last month, an FIR was registered on instructions of Borivali magistrate’s court under the Prevention of Dowry Act. No arrest has been made until now.
