Leaders honour tag victim Muni Kama Koti
He was laid to rest at Harchandra Smasana Vatika near Devendra theatre
Tirupati: Men, women, students, youth everybody including political leaders of all parties participated in the last journey of Muni Kama Koti who sacrificed his life for special status of the state by immolating himself. He was laid to rest at Harchandra Smasana Vatika near Devendra theatre, here on Monday.
Leaders of various parties including AICC representative Thirunavakkar from Delhi, PCC president Raghuveera Reddy, former ministers of the Congress Sailajanath, Chiranjeevi, Ramachandraiah, CPI state secretary Ramakrishna, Harinatha Reddy, CPM leaders from district Kumar Reddy, Kandarapu Murali, YSRC leaders, many people’s organisations leaders as well as student and youth organisations, business people participated in the funeral procession.
The body was brought from Chennai Kilpauk government hospital by 2.30 pm and former Congress ministers Ramachandraiah and Chiranjeevi accompanied the mortal remains from Chennai to his residing place Manchala Street in Tirupati. Koti’s body was placed adjacent to the Rajanna Park for the public to have a last glimpse and leaders of all parties paid floral tributes.
Forests and Environment Minister, Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy and local MLA, Suguna came and consoled his family members and declared Rs 3 lakh as ex-gratia. The cortege started by 4 pm in a special open top van decorated with flowers through Bhavaninagar and VV Mahal and reached the municipal office where all party leaders gathered.
Amidst slogans of ‘Prathyeka Hoda Kavali’ by the youth and other participants all along the way to the crematorium people thronged the road side to have a last look. At Harichandra Smasana Vatika (crematorium) Congress leaders including Raghuveera Reddy, Sailajanath and others carried the body from the vehicle.
