Manjhi team to offer token of gratitude to Dashrath’s family
Manjhi is a biopic based on the Mountain Man
On August 16, five days before the release of their film Manjhi, director Ketan Mehta and Nawazuddin Siddiqui will travel to Gehlaur in Bihar to meet the family of Dahshrat Manjhi or ‘Mountain Man’. Manjhi is a biopic based on the Mountain Man who spent a lifetime trying to manually break a mountain so that his village could have easy access to the closest hospital. The filmmakers want to offer the family monetary gratification for having allowed them access to details of Manjhi’s life events.
Says Nawaz, “I don’t know what Ketan has planned, but we are travelling to meet Manjhi’s family to offer them our gratitude and solidarity.”
The trailer of the film looks very powerful and may be another feather in Nawaz’s cap, much like Badlapur and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, where he was a show stealer. But Nawaz isn’t too fond of the term. “Being a show stealer is not a good thing in our film industry. It tends to put leading men on their guard. Such a reputation can finish off my career. Right now I am happy playing Manjhi. It’s a story of courage and determination. I see it as my own Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Mary Kom.”
