And Zen there were selfies
Smartphone brand Asus has added an entire lineup of new devices to its ZenFone family. At the first ever ZenFestival in Delhi, the company dedicated two devices to consumers whose primary objective for owning a smartphone is to click selfies.
The Asus ZenFone ‘Selfie’ has done the inevitable — putting two cameras, in the front and rear, with the same resolution: 13 MP. Both cameras come with dual-colour, dual-LED flash and laser auto-focus for real-time identification and focus on the face of the object. The 88-degree wide angle camera also claims to focus on objects as close as 6 cm from the camera.
We got access to the device, and can vouch for the fact that this phone is dramatically faster compared to other selfie phones in the market simply by being able to focus faster. Asus’ digital cosmetic features also help make you look more presentable.
The ZenFone Selfie comes with a 5.5’ full HD screen, powered by a Snapdragon 64-bit Octa Core processor, with dual SIM capabilities. With a Starting price of Rs 15,999, the device will be available this week in 2GB and 3GB memory models.
And for the slightly more serious photography enthusiasts, Asus has launched the ZenFone 2 Laser, the smartphone that claims to click pictures with zero shutter lag. The device takes just 0.3 seconds to focus and shoot a photo. With special laser beam technology embedded into the flash, the ZenFone 2 Laser promises images clearer than its other ZenFone family members.
The device is available in three variants — with 5.5 and 6-inch screens — all with Corning Gorilla Glass 4, Octa-core Snapdragon processor and full HD screens. All variants come with a 13 MP rear and 5 MP front camera. If you are looking to truly leverage the superior flash technology, we recommend you go for the higher screen sizes. The six-inch screen variant is priced at Rs 17,999, while the 5.5 inch variants are priced at Rs 9,999 (2GB) and Rs 13,999 (3GB) respectively.
