Patna: The JD (U), the dominant political party in Bihar is facing tough challenges ahead of the Assembly elections which are to be held within few months. This became evident on Sunday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched an attack against the JD (U)-RJD combine while addressing a Parivartan Rally in Gaya.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was widely criticised by the members of the secular front made yet another sarcastic remark against Bihar Chief Minister and his party JD (U) instead of giving explanations to his “DNA” remark, which was sought last week by Nitish Kumar through his open letter.
“JD (U) means janata ka utpidan aur daman (People’s torture and oppression) and RJD means rojana jungle raj ka darr (fear of jungle raj on daily basis),” said Mr Modi.
Continuing with his sarcastic jibe he added, “The person who said he drank poison will certainly spill the venom after elections making people of Bihar suffer. This alliance will never work”.
Verbal attack against the CM didn’t stop just there. The PM, while targeting Mr Kumar’s tagline “good governance”, said, “People are being killed in full public view as if there is no fear of law, system in the state has collapsed and people are forced to live under tremendous fear”.
Urging people to vote in favour of the NDA to end the Jungle Raj, the PM slammed Nitish Kumar for tying up with Lalu Yadav’s RJD only for political gains.
He said, earlier when there had been the rule of jungle raj part I, it was terrific. But it will be worse if the JD(U)-RJD forms the next government.
While making an appeal to vote in favour of the NDA, Mr Modi promised that Bihar will be pulled out from the list of ‘Bimaru’ states and his government at the Centre would ensure all possible help in the development.
He said Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan were taken out of the ‘Bimaru’ list only after people voted in favour of the BJP.
“Give us five years and I promise to take Bihar out of Bimaru list,” he said.
Taking a jibe at Mr Modi, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said, “Finally we have a government that could be truly called a “Union Twitter Government” that listens, acts and responds only on Twitter.
“Modiji, even though you didn’t answer my questions, it was heartening to see you open your speech at Muzaffarpur taking cognisance of my tweets,” the Mr Kumar said.
He also raked up the issue of appointment of new Governor Ram Nath Kovind.
“Those who talk about cooperative federalism, forget about consulting, they do not even inform the CM before appointing the Governor. Amazing,” Mr Kumar tweeted.
The Gaya rally of the Prime Minister is the second one after the one in Muzaffarpur to drum up support for NDA in the ensuing state poll. BJP president Amit Shah and all prominent leaders of NDA were present.
