Mumbai cops to quiz Radhe Maa soon
Mumbai: The Kandivali police has summoned self-proclaimed godwoman Radhe Maa to the police station on Friday to record her statements in connection with the FIR, where she has been made an accused for “instigating” the husband and in-laws of a woman for dowry and for “torturing and kicking” the complainant as well.
In another development, the Borivali police, who received an application from a lawyer Falguni Brahmbhatt, alleging obscenity charges against Radhe Maa, have forwarded it to their legal officer who will give his opinion on it after which a final call will be taken.
Ms Brahmbhatt alleged that the godwoman is running a business in the name of religion and misleading innocent people.
A police official said, “We have sent summons to all the accused. We will start by interrogating the main accused i.e. the husband and in-laws. They will be followed by Radhe Maa. Till now we have completed recording the statements of everyone from the complainant’s side.”
Last month, an FIR was registered on the instructions of the Borivali magistrate’s court order. The FIR is taken down under Sections 498(a), 406, 420, 323, 504, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 3 and 4 of the Prevention of Dowry Act. No arrest has been made till now.
The complainant Niki Nakul Gupta, her husband Nakul Gupta and family members Lata Gupta, Daulatkumar Gupta, Sandip Gupta, Jyoti Gupta and Jagmohan Gupta had been allegedly harassing her for dowry for a long time. The accused allegedly abused her and made derogatory comments.
