Katriguppe RWAs rally behind Loksatta
The resident forums have turned more pro-active
Bengaluru: In Katriguppe the resident forums have turned more pro-active about the forthcoming BBMP elections, as they feel they can make a change only when they become part of it. This time they will not just choose parties and vote, but will also exhort other residents to vote for new parties like Loksatta.
According to Shashidhar, a member of Poorna Pragna Layout Residents’ Welfare Association, who is campaigning for Loksatta candidate Rohit Simha, the lackadaisical attitude of former corporators has tired citizens. “We have had enough from corporators who give excuses for not doing any work,” he said.
Many like Shashidhar and members of several resident welfare associations in Katriguppe have joined hands with Rohit and are knocking on doors to seek votes. Shashidhar said that he is supporting Rohit after seeing him work for the ward even before he decided to contest the elections.
“Garbage management is severely hampered in the ward and BBMP trucks don’t collect garbage regularly. From a long time, we have seen Rohit working towards garbage management and monitoring garbage clearance. On some occasions, he has stood at the black spots and has ensured that garbage was cleared. If given more power, he could address other concerns too. Hence, we have joined hands with him,” Shashidhar said.
One of the city’s oldest wards, Katriguppe is plagued with civic problems such as lack of streetlights, stray dog menace and potholed roads, apart from garbage and water supply issues. Rohit, a former techie, revealed that he had held several discussions with RWAs to identify the problems that were affecting them the most and they have been mentioned in his manifesto. Meanwhile, he said that since the ward has many educated voters, it was easy to discuss solutions to the problems and identifying approach methods to implement them. “Many members of RWAs are the strong foundation to my campaigns and I hope win with their support,” he said.
