Heat, dust take a toll on the skin
Many have complained of these problems in the last two months and are seeking advice from dermatologists

Hyderabad: The extended summer heat due to the failure of the rains is leading to skin infections, irritation, burning sensation and even tan. This was earlier known to happen only in peak summer.
Many have complained of these problems in the last two months and are seeking advice from dermatologists.
Dr D.B.N. Murthy, a dermatologist, said, “The weather continues to be hot and humid. Those who are on field jobs or travelling a lot in the city are sweating. Sweat causes allergies, and fungal and bacterial infections.”
People who travel daily are exposed to daily levels of increased dust which irritate the skin.
Dr Laxmi Shardha said, “Irritation of the skin is the first sign that the skin is being affected by a fungus or bacteria. But this is often ignored because people have the habit of rubbing their skin and this is wrong. Skin bacterial infections spread faster due to perspiration. It aggravates into rashes, redness and also spread if medicines are not taken on time.”
In the present cases, experts found that dust was the main trigger. Dr C. Bhagyalaxmi, a dermatologist said, “Dust levels have increased due to construction. Many children, teenagers and adults are found to suffer from itching and increase in acne. A major problem is that people wash their hands, but not their faces, once they reach home.”
