DGP T P Senkumar makes ‘surprise’ visit to North Malabar
KOZHKODE: State DGP T.P. Senkumar made a whirlwind tour of the northern Malabar areas to analyse the law and order situation and interact with his officers to improve policing.
Senkumar along with ADGP North Shanker Reddy visited various sensitive areas including Nadapuram and interacted with the subordinates on Saturday. He also visited the Kannur International Airport which is now under construction.
Senior police officers said the DGP’s visit was nothing but routine. However, sources said DGP had briefed his subordinates regarding measures to ensure law and order in these areas and he had also reportedly warned officers against politicising the police force.
He also talked about controlling the communal distress that is growing in these areas and wanted policemen to keep an eye on youths getting attracted to extremist elements in the region. Sources told DC that the DGP wanted to check the readiness of his force in combating extremist elements.
“The DGP had not visited these areas after assuming office. So he wanted to go around and see the facilities. It was a routine visit,” ADGP Shanker Reddy told Deccan Chronicle.
