Hyderabad: AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh on Sunday demanded that the Centre immediately announce special category status to AP as promised before the situation in the state goes out of control on account of the self immolation of B. Muni Kama Koti at Tirupati on Saturday.
He said the incident should be an eye-opener for both the Centre and the state government as they had failed to implement their own promise of extending special status to AP. He said the Congress would stand with the family of Muni Koti and extend all help.
The Congress general secretary said that it was the Left parties, TD, BJP and the YSR Congress that demanded bifurcation of the state much before the AICC took a decision on the issue.
