Beat dry skin, drink water frequently
Hyderabad: Inadequate intake of water, especially among students and professionals, is leading to dry skin problems. With the weather still hot and humid, intake of water is not sufficient and the skin’s superficial layers are not getting enough water.
There are many complaints about itching as the skin is getting tight due to dehydration.
Dr V. Mallik, a dermatologist, said, “Dry skin can be mild or severe. The present cases of people coming to the clinics these days is because of the weather. Dry skin affects, arms, hands and legs the most. If there are repeated itch and scratch cycles then it can lead to the skin thickening and even darkening. The skin is the last organ in the body to get water. Hence, if a person’s skin is dehydrated, it is due to low intake of water.”
