The DMK women’s wing also resolved to take on the AIADMK

Chennai: On Saturday, the women’s wing of both the ruling AIADMK and its archrival DMK vowed to decimate their political rival. On its part, the AIADMK dispatched its women’s wing to distribute pamphlets on the schemes and projects executed by Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa in the past four years.
The AIADMK campaign came two days after DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin, announced that he would tour all the 234 assembly constituencies ahead of next year assembly polls. The AIADMK women’s wing secretary Sasikala Pushpa kick started the campaign in Tuticorin.
Meanwhile, the DMK women’s wing also resolved to take on the AIADMK. A resolution adopted by the wing said that the functionaries will hold an anti-liquor conference at Kancheepuram on August 22.
Stating that several alcoholics were spending most of their hard earnings at Tasmac shops and their families were embroiled in a deep financial mess, the resolution adopted at a meeting chaired by Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi, said domestic violence was increasing in the State due to uncontrolled flow of liquor.
The women’s wing also resolved to thank party chief M. Karunanidhi and Stalin at the Kancheepuram conference for promising to introduce prohibition if voted back to power in 2016.
The DMK women’s wing also condemned the ruling AIADMK for crushing anti-liquor protests that spread like wildfire following the demise of Gandhian Sasi Perumal who died fighting for prohibition.
