Telangana turns to gods for rains
Late CM YSR of undivided AP had ordered special prayers in all places in 2009
Hyderabad: The Telangana government is planning to hold Varuna Yagams and special pujas at all major Shiva temples to appease the rain god since monsoon has been playing truant leading to severe drought conditions in the state.
Late chief minister YSR of the undivided Andhra Pradesh had ordered special prayers in all places of worship in June 2009, when monsoon failed affecting agricultural activities across the state after a gap of five years.
The Telangana state endowments department has proposed to hold ‘Sahasra Ghataabhishekam’ to be performed at all the Shiva temples and Varuna Yagam in other temples, that was referred to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for approval.
