Bengaluru: Jewellery outlet broken into, safe intact
Bengaluru: The Davanam Jewellers heist had perplexed the city police as neither the store owner, nor the staff have any clue about what all have gone missing. The miscreants have spared the main safe and silver items on display at the store, but cut the wires of surveillance cameras.
The incident reportedly happened early Saturday and the unidentified miscreants gained access into the jewellery store by cutting open the tin roofing of the top floor and then broke open the door lock, said a senior police officer.
The police suspect there were three men and they also broke into two apparel outlets on No. 8 Kamaraj Road, Commercial Street, along with Davanam store. “The incident took place between 3 am and 4 am and the accused entered into ‘Chhabra 555’ and stole Rs 15,000 in cash and saris through the terrace. They then burgled another cloth store. It looks like they then gained entry into Davanam store, located at the ground floor after cutting the wires of the CCTV surveillance cameras,” said a police officer. There is another under construction building next to jewellery store.
Senior police officials visited the spot and met the owner, store manager and staff of Davanam to ascertain the amount of missing valuables, but the staff and store managers were clueless. After series of meetings, it was decided that the staff will provide a list of items stolen in a day’s time. Commercial street police have registered a case of theft, said a senior police officer.
