I just did what my director asked me to: Priyanka

Priyanka won accolades for her performance in her earlier flick Kangaroo and was hailed as the next (late) Shoba of Tamil cinema. In fact, she has impressed everyone with her bold act in the recently-released Vandha Mala, where she’s even gone to the extent of using double entendres, which is unusual for an actress.

“I am a Tamil girl and even dubbed in my own voice for the film. For the Chennai Tamil slang, I didn’t do any rehearsals and the director would reveal the dialogues only on set! After the initial hiccups, it got so engrossing that I was getting my shots fluently. Once, the people of the slums where we shooting clapped and congratulated me as they felt I was a natural. The script demanded a girl like that. I just did what my director Igor asked me to. It was quite challenging,” she tells DC. Priyanka has her kitty full with three films, including Tirupathi Laddu, Saaral and Reengaaram.
