PCB officials seem unperturbed about the pollution

Hyderabad: A committee formed by Andhra Pradesh government for “closely monitoring” the issue of pollution by oil industries in the Konaseema region of East Godavari district has been sitting on the issue since it was formed five months ago.
A GO stated that the panel was to study pollution and report it to the Pollution Control Board. The committee has not made a single site visit so far. Only three meetings were held with oil industry representatives. PCB officials were not forthcoming when asked about the details of the three meetings.
PCB officials seem unperturbed about the pollution. An official from Kakinada said, “Allegations were made against the oil firms. As per our checks, everything is fine.”
