Congress throws ball in government’s court over functioning of Parliament
New Delhi: Congress today threw the ball inthe government's court on the issue of smooth functioning of Parliament next week in the monsoon session which largely remained paralysed over Lalit Modi and Vypam issues, saying if it was interested in its running, then it will reach out to the opposition.
"If BJP Government is interested in running Parliament, then it will reach out to the opposition which has been agitating for the cause of people and raising the issue of corruption," Party spokesman RPN Singh said in reply to a volley of questions.
He, however, parried the questions from reporters whether the party MPs would again be showing placards after the return on Monday of the 25 suspended MPs in the Lok Sabha.
The monsoon session is concluding on August 13. He said the deadlock in Parliament would be a thing of the past when the Prime Minister takes action against those being targeted on matters of gross impropriety and corruption.
Replying to a question, he hit out at Union Minister Smriti Irani for targeting Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi over their attack on Sushma Swaraj in the Lalit Modi issue.
He reminded Irani that the Gandhi-Nehru family has made lot of sacrifices for the cause of the country, which was unparallel.
