MLA ‘ranks’ rankle leaders

The party ranked MLAs on the basis of implementation of welfare schemes

GUNTUR: Ranks allotted to MLAs by the Telugu Desam high command has not gone down well with the TD leaders in Guntur.

The party ranked MLAs on the basis of implementation of welfare schemes and development activities in Guntur district. There are 17 MLAs in Guntur district, of which five are from the YSR Congress and rest are from the TD.

According to TD sources, Tenali MLA Alapati Rajendraprasad was ranked first and TD MLA of Guntur West M. Venugopala Reddy was ranked 14.

TD leaders say that there were various causes for slow implementation of welfare schemes and development activities, and hence, ranks will create a negative image of the MLAs among the public.

Not one MLA from Guntur district, neither from the TD nor the YSRC secured a rank in the state, reflecting the tardy pace of schemes implementation and development works.

In Andhra Pradesh, A. Radhakrishna, Tanuku MLA, was ranked first, and Rama Naidu, Palakollu MLA, was ranked second rank.

Chintamaneni Prabhakar, Dendulur TD legislator, who was allegedly involved in attack the on a woman MRO, was ranked third in the state.

Ranks were given for the performance of MLAs on implementation of loan waiver, pension distribution, public distribution system, Dwcra loan waiver, Janmabhumi committees, sand reaches and other developmental works.
